Northern Arizona Youth Lacrosse is excited to partner with the City of Sedona Parks and Recreation to host a free youth lacrosse clinic at Posse Grounds Park on Saturday, July 18, from 9:00–10:30 AM.

This beginner-friendly clinic is designed to give local kids a fun, low-pressure introduction to one of the fastest-growing sports in the country. No experience is needed, and equipment will be provided.

A Free Opportunity for Sedona Kids to Try Lacrosse

For many families in Northern Arizona, lacrosse is still a new sport. That is exactly why Northern Arizona Youth Lacrosse is bringing free clinics to communities across the region: to make the game more accessible, more familiar, and more fun for kids who may not have had the chance to try it before.

At the Sedona clinic, young athletes will learn the basics of lacrosse through simple drills, games, and hands-on instruction. Participants will get to try throwing, catching, scooping ground balls, shooting, and moving with the ball while learning the teamwork and confidence-building skills that make lacrosse such a great youth sport.

The clinic is open to beginners, and kids do not need to own any lacrosse gear to participate.

Why Lacrosse?

Lacrosse is a fast-paced team sport that helps kids build coordination, confidence, communication, and athletic skills that carry over into many other sports. It combines running, agility, hand-eye coordination, teamwork, and strategy in a way that keeps kids active and engaged.

For new players, the sport can look intimidating at first, but once kids get a stick in their hands, they usually pick it up quickly — and have a lot of fun doing it.

Northern Arizona Youth Lacrosse believes every child should have the opportunity to try the sport in an inclusive, recreational environment. Free clinics like this one help remove common barriers such as equipment, experience, and cost.

Building Youth Lacrosse in Northern Arizona

Northern Arizona Youth Lacrosse was created to grow recreational boys’ and girls’ lacrosse opportunities across the region, including Flagstaff, Sedona, the Verde Valley, Prescott, and surrounding communities.

The goal is to create welcoming youth programs where kids can learn the game, stay active, build friendships, and develop leadership and teamwork skills. Clinics like the Sedona event are an important first step in introducing the sport to more families and building future playing opportunities close to home.

Who Should Attend?

This clinic is a great fit for kids who:

  • Have never played lacrosse before

  • Are curious about trying a new sport

  • Enjoy running, team games, or stick-and-ball sports

  • Play soccer, basketball, hockey, football, softball, or baseball and want to try something new

  • Want a fun, active morning outside

No prior athletic experience is required. The clinic is designed to be welcoming, recreational, and beginner-friendly.

Parents Are Welcome to Stay and Watch

Parents and guardians are encouraged to stay, watch, ask questions, and learn more about future lacrosse opportunities in Northern Arizona. This is also a great chance for families to meet the people behind Northern Arizona Youth Lacrosse and learn how the organization plans to grow youth programming in the region.

Families interested in future clinics, teams, volunteer opportunities, or equipment donations are encouraged to join the Northern Arizona Youth Lacrosse interest list.

Help Us Grow the Game

If you know a family in Sedona or the Verde Valley with kids who might want to try lacrosse, please share this clinic with them. Community support makes a huge difference as we work to bring more accessible youth sports opportunities to Northern Arizona.

Come run, throw, catch, learn, and have fun with us at Posse Grounds Park on July 18.

We cannot wait to see Sedona kids pick up a stick and try something new.
