Young players in blue pinnies watch a lacrosse game from the sideline at the Sedona Play Day
Sedona Play Day, September 27 · Zach Rohe Photography

At Posse Grounds Park in September, nearly 50 kids from Flagstaff, Prescott and the Verde Valley played 15 games across three fields. Between turns, teammates sat on the grass with their sticks and watched the next game. For a league in its first developmental season, getting those three communities on one field was something to celebrate.

On October 24, our fall Play Day took families to NAU’s South Recreation Fields in Flagstaff. Then, on November 4, the Prescott Outlaws closed the season with a free Pick Up & Play clinic at Taylor Hicks Elementary School. Thank you to the players who came back each week, the families who brought a friend, and the coaches and volunteers who made time for beginners.

A lighter winter in Sedona

We’re planning an after-school winter program in Sedona for kids who want to keep learning between seasons. The emphasis will be on stick skills, games and time with teammates, with a lighter commitment than a full season.

What we’re building for spring 2027

We’d love to welcome our fall players back and make room for kids who have never held a stick. We’re working toward full spring seasons, and the teams we can field will depend on how many players and coaches take part.

The local coed group is designed for kindergarten through third grade. Fourth and fifth graders can choose that group or ask to play up on a middle school boys’ or girls’ team. For middle school, we hope to form separate boys’ and girls’ groups, with local play for everyone and optional regional games for those interested. At high school, the goal is two developmental teams, one for boys and one for girls, that practice locally and play regionally.

Help us plan a season your family can play

Your feedback is already helping us understand who wants to play and who can lend a hand. Tell us which community is closest, when your player can practice, or what made it hard to participate this fall. We welcome suggestions from returning families and from those still deciding whether lacrosse is for them.

Share your player’s spring interest and suggestions.

Tell us how you’d like to coach or volunteer.
